Eileen Beeber, a resident of Friendship Village, and for many years prior to that of Fayette Court, Dayton, passed away on Jan. 15 after battling cancer for almost three years. Born on Nov. 11, 1930 in Asbury Park, N.J. to Yetta and Harry Zahler, Mrs. Beeber moved to Dayton as a young girl and never left. At age 19 she married William Beeber, who became well-known in the community for building a successful pharmacy business, Beeber Pharmacy, and RNA, Incorporated, a national pharmaceutical computer technology company. He predeceased her in 1992. Her brother, Morton S. Zahler, also predeceased her. When she was 20, she gave birth to her first son, Gary Scott, a resident of New York and Sag Harbor, N.Y. Her second son, Arthur, died when he was 17. Family and friends, their well being and happiness, were of the utmost importance to Mrs. Beeber. She was beautiful and was known as a gentle, kind and sweet woman who had a great sense of style and loved fashion. Mrs. Beeber is survived by her son Gary and daughter-in-law Betsy Nichol. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery. The family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.

Rita Z. Cline-Marks, age 82 of Kettering, passed away Jan. 6. She was born in Columbus on Jan. 22, 1930. Mrs. Cline-Marks was involved in many religious and civic organizations. She was the proud recipient of the Lion of Judah Award from the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton and was honored by the local chapter of the League of Women Voters for 50 years of service. Mrs. Cline-Marks was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. Cline and Milton A. Marks; sister, Annette Schwartz Ettinger and brother-in-law Alfred Schwartz; and sister Sibyl Krausz. She is survived by her daughters, J “Joule” E Charney of Paradise, Calif. and Meredith A. Cline of Key Largo, Fla.; grandson, Tevyn Charney of Daytona Beach, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Myra Zalk of Dallas; brother-in-law Fred Krausz; stepchildren Rhonda Marks Smulian, Richard Marks and Judi Marks Cohen; six stepgrandchildren; nephews and nieces, Joel, Gail and Michael Schwartz, Howard, James and David Krausz, Karen Zalk, Hannah Zalk-Smith and Bruce Zalk. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert and Rita Cline Fund of the Dayton Jewish Federation Foundation, the Cline Family Scholarship Fund at Temple Israel, or the American Cancer Society.

Milton H. Kantor, age 85, passed away Dec. 23. Beloved husband of Marlene L. Kantor, devoted father of David (Leslie) Kantor of Boca Raton, Richard (Julie) Kantor and Ellen (Mark) Knue; dear brother of Gerald (Roberta) Kantor of Dayton and the late Arnold and Paul Kantor; loving grandfather of Nicole (Cole) Rubin, Alissa (Adam) Shapiro, Oren and Gavriele Kantor, Ryan and Hallie Kantor and Zach, Carly and Ari Knue; great-grandfather of Raya and Mason Rubin. Memorial contributions to Wise Temple, Victory Against Hunger, 400 Victory Dr., Springboro, OH 45066 or Hospice of Cincinnati would be appreciated.

Bernard A. Mellman, 88 of Gainesville, Fla., passed away on Jan. 17 at the VA Hospital’s Community Living Center. He was born on Sept. 12, 1924 in Columbus, OH, the son of Rachel and Isaac Mellman. He is predeceased by two sisters, Rosalie Stone and Kathleen Jacobson. Mr. Mellman was a World War II veteran and a member of the 42nd Infantry (Rainbow) Division, 542nd Field Artillery, which fought at the Battle of the Bulge and helped liberate Dachau concentration camp. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 and headed his own C.P.A. firm in Dayton for 40 years. He was president of the Public Accountants Society of Ohio and was also appointed by the governor to become a member of the Accountancy Board of Ohio. He was president of the Riverdale Optimist Club of Dayton. When Mr. Mellman and his wife, Beverly, moved to Gainesville in 2000, he became a volunteer for S.C.O.R.E. As a liberator, Mr. Mellman was asked to speak to the classes held for teachers of the Holocaust at the University of Florida for many years and was proud and humbled to share his experiences. Mr. Mellman was an athletic man, enjoying softball, bowling, handball and golf, as well as gym activities. He was a Buckeye and a Gator fan. Mr. Mellman met his wife at an OSU open house, asked her to Jitterbug and they enjoyed dancing for the rest of their 62 years of marriage. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Kutash Mellman, and four children, Leslie Hellstrom (Josh), Dr. Mark Mellman (Cindy) of Tampa, Susan Blasberg-Susi (Benny), and Karen Mellman-Smith (Peter) of Chicago. His 11 grandchildren are Alexa, Mackenzie and Carly Hellstrom; Shai, Tova, Ami and Ellie Blasberg; Aaron and Alissa Mellman; and Benjamin and Danielle Smith. Interment was at B’nai Israel Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association, Congregation B’nai Israel, or to the Jewish War Veterans, in his memory.

Eva Zulanch age 96 of Dayton, passed away Dec. 28. Mrs. Zulanch was a lifelong member of Beth Jacob Congregation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac, son Jerome and great-grandson Zeke Burger; two sisters, Sophie Haber and Jickie Dworsky. Mrs. Zulanch is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Don and Sue Zulanch; daughter-in-law Susie Meltzer and her husband Eli; grandchildren Jennifer Oppenheimer, Julie (Doug) Cohen, Debbie (Taz) Niemand, Jamie (Gabe) Burger, Danny (Julie) Meltzer and Hillel (Vickie) Meltzer; six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zulanch was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Interment was at Beth Jacob Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Beth Jacob or the charity of your choice.
