Michelle Kingsfield to emcee Breast Health Seminar for Jewish Women, Dec. 10

Breast Awareness Event

Fox 45 and ABC 22 news anchor Michelle Kingsfield will serve as emcee for the Women’s Division of the Jewish Federation’s Breast Health Seminar for Jewish Women on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Boonshoft CJCE. When she was 14 weeks pregnant with her second son, Michelle was diagnosed with stage four non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The Dayton Daily News followed her story, detailing her strength and inspiration as she went through six rounds of intense chemo therapy and then delivered a healthy baby boy. Michelle also shared her challenges with the nation during two appearances on Good Morning America and in the March 2006 edition of O, The Oprah Magazine.

Guest speakers scheduled for the program also include:

• Rochelle Shoretz, founder of Sharsheret, a nonprofit that links Jewish women fighting breast cancer. Her topic is Facing Breast Cancer as a Jewish Woman. At age 28, Shoretz was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2001, while undergoing chemotherapy, she founded Sharsheret and served as its first executive director.

• Kettering Breast Evaluation Centers Manager Shirleen Braner, who will discuss Personalizing Your Breast Cancer Health Program;

Whispers Home Fine Linens and Lingerie owner Judy Wyatt, who will talk about proper bra fitting;

• and Linda Blum, a mother of four, who was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The speakers will be available for one-on-one discussions after their talks, and Whispers will offer a bra fitting specialist, with bras available for purchase.

Michelle’s Skin Care will provide hand massages free of charge during the program, and books about breast cancer and women’s wellness will be available for purchase.

The chair of A Breast Health Seminar is Linda Kahn; Lisa Harlan is president of Women’s Division.

The cost of the event, including a kosher breakfast buffet catered by Sarah Moore Leventhal, is $36 per person; additional giving opportunities are available. Men are welcome at this event, which is open to the entire community.
