Arab journalist to discuss her support of Israel

Brigitte Gabriel, a former news anchor for Middle East Television’s World News, will discuss the threat of militant Islam on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Beth Jacob Congregation. The program is sponsored by the Dayton Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation.

Gabriel grew up in south Lebanon. In the Lebanese civil war, she was a victim of the first attack of Islamic Jihad against non-Moslems. Her family, Christian Arabs, was forced to live for seven years in an underground bomb shelter with little food, water or electricity.

She has worked in Jerusalem as a journalist and currently owns a television production and advertising company in the United States.

Gabriel is the founder of American Congress for Truth.org, a non-profit organization that educates Americans about the threat of militant Islam; she is the author of Because They Hate: A Survivor of Islamic Terror Warns America.

During a July 27 speech at Duke University, she said, “The difference between the Arabic world and Israel is the difference in values and character. It’s barbarism versus civilization. It’s democracy versus dictatorship. It’s goodness versus evil.”
