Beth Abraham scholar in residence celebrates food

Jewish Eating And Identity Through The Ages will be the theme of Beth Abraham Synagogue’s Susan and David Joffe Scholar-in-Residence Weekend Oct. 22-24.
Serving as scholar in residence will be Dr. David Kraemer, professor of Talmud and rabbinics at Jewish Theological Seminary. Kraemer is the author of seven books on topics ranging from rabbinic views on human suffering, death and the afterlife, and the Jewish family.
On Friday, Oct. 22 after Kabalat Shabbat services at 6:15 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m., Kraemer will lead the discussion, Jewish Eating Through The Ages, based on a study he recently authored.
Following the 12:30 p.m. Shabbat kiddush lunch on Saturday, Oct. 23, he will talk about Diversity and Divergence in Judaism.
As part of the Beth Abraham Men’s Club brunch on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m., Kraemer will pull together the topics of his first two talks for the presentation, Diversity and Divergence in Jewish Eating.
All three talks are open to the community; reservations are required for the dinner and brunch. The cost for the dinner is $18 adults, $7.50 ages 12 and under; the brunch is $5. R.S.V.P. to 293-9520.
