Linda Ohlmann Kahn and Dennis Kahn, formerly of Dayton and now of Boynton Beach, Fla., along with Ronit and Sam Litwack of Palm Coast, Fla., are delighted to announce the arrival of their new grandson, Walter David Kahn. Proud parents, Andrew and Alina Kahn, welcomed him into the world on Aug. 29 in Cleveland.

Walter David Kahn

Walter is named in loving memory of his paternal great-grandfather, Walter Ohlmann of Dayton, and his maternal great-grandfather, David Litwack, a former U.S. fighter pilot. Both men were dedicated pillars of their communities and enduring inspirations to their families. The family felt so blessed to be surrounded by loving family and friends who gathered from near and far to celebrate his bris.

Marilyn and Larry Klaben

Marilyn and Larry Klaben have been named the recipients of the Dayton Business Journal 2026 Philanthropy Award, to be given at DBJ’s Business of the Year Awards Banquet, Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Schuster Center. Since 2001, Morris Furniture Company and the Klabens have provided more than 15,000 beds to children in need, partnering with Hope to Dream, Secret Smiles of Dayton, Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Cincinnati, and Furniture Bank of Central Ohio.

Debbie Feldman

The Dayton Business Journal will also present Debbie Feldman with its Regional Leader of the Year Award at the banquet. Debbie retired in June after 14 years as president and CEO of Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Steven Solomon

Steven Solomon was recently appointed to Dayton Mayor Shenise Turner-Sloss’ People-Centered Governance Committee, which advises on housing policy, neighborhood stability, and returning vacant properties to productive use by delivering formal policy recommendations to the Dayton City Commission for review. He has also joined the Jewish Community Relations Council.

Yetta Krummel-Adkins

While working on her senior honors thesis at New York University, Russian studies major Yetta Krummel-Adkins discovered archival materials at YIVO Institute for Jewish Research connected to the Dayton Jewish community’s activism with the National Conference on Soviet Jewry in the 1970s. Materials include information about a UD basketball game against the U.S.S.R. National Team at UD Arena, Nov. 8, 1975. “(Jewish) community members went to the basketball game to plead their case when the Soviet delegation was attending,” she said, about the U.S.S.R. withholding exit visas from refuseniks. The Soviets beat UD, 84-71. Yetta is the daughter of Miriamne Krummel and Matt Adkins.

Stephen Goldberg

Stephen Goldberg‘s photography exhibit Images of Africa, South America, and Antarctica is on display through Oct. 30 at Centerville Art Gallery, located in Centerville Police Headquarters.

To commemorate the 88th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the one-person play Anschel, by Michael London, based on the book Anschel’s Story by Renate Frydman, will be presented by the Baltimore Jewish Council and the Gordon Center for the Performing Arts in Owings Mills, Md., Nov. 11.
