Ronald Colp, 47 years old, passed away suddenly Sept. 30 in Greensboro, N.C. Mr. Colp worked in construction in Greensboro for the last 25 years. Mr. Colp attended Meadowdale High School. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Jacob and Rose Colp; his mother, Barbara; his Uncle Terry and his Aunt Gloria. He is survived by his father, Jerry; brother, David; cousins Jane and Deborah and their children; and close friend and companion Robin Padgett and her family. Marsha R. Froelich, age 63, of Dayton, passed away Nov. 19 with family at her side. Mrs. Froelich worked tirelessly in the Dayton area raising funds for many causes. She was the director emeritus of Clothes That Work and worked for the YWCA, United Way, and held many offices with numerous community organizations. She was often recognized by peers and organizations for her achievements. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Muriel Rafal. Mrs. Froelich is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; daughters and son-in-law, Sara Froelich, Melanie and Jeff Butter; grandchildren, Ryan and Nora Butter; sister, Jeri Pace; stepmother, Jane Rafal; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Debbie Froelich; and many other loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. With all of her community involvement, family was still the most important thing in Mrs. Froelich’s life. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery. Contributions in Mrs. Froelich’s memory may be made to Clothes That Work or the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter.
Eugene C. Schear, age 94, of Dayton and Lake Worth, Fla., passed away Nov. 12. He was born in 1917 to Abe and Sara Schear, graduated from Stivers High School and The Ohio State University. Mr. Schear was president of Sigma Alpha Mu while at OSU. He served as a master sergeant in the Army during World War II. Mr. Schear was the seventh of eight children and was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Max, Hyman, Harry, Orby and Burt; sisters Rose Liff and Tillye Antman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Patti of Dayton; daughter and son-in-law, Micki and Michael Ferar of Petaluma, Calif.; granddaughters, Sophia, Libby and Laura; grandsons, Nick and Sam; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mr. Schear was the longtime operator of Liberal Markets, headquartered in Dayton, and Schearbrook Land and Livestock, one of the largest cattle breeding and land development operations in the nation. As an entrepreneur and pioneer in those and other industries, he had interests in motels (LaQuinta), institutional food distribution (Concord Provisions), various other real estate and investment enterprises including Sherbrooke Estates, a large country club residential development in Palm Beach County, Fla., where he resided the past 30 years. He was a past board member of Beth Abraham Synagogue and held many offices with numerous community, national and Jewish organizations. Mr Schear fiercely loved his family and was devoted to the communities in which he lived. Interment was at Beth Abraham Cemetery.
