Family fun, film screening at Israel Independence celebration

Israel Independence 2010

From the Israeli film White Balance

This year’s community Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration will be held on Tuesday, April 20 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Beth Abraham Synagogue. In addition to food for purchase from Bernstein’s Fine Catering, carnival games, face painting, and craft activities for children, the DJCC’s Dayton Jewish International Film Festival will present a free screening of the Israeli family film White Balance. The 45-minute movie is about a 12-year-old boy and his love of ice skating. Confronted with gradual hearing loss, he insists on continuing to skate, against his doctor’s orders and his parents wishes.

Sponsors of the Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration are the DJCC; the Jewish Federation; the Dayton Jewish International Film Festival; the Synagogue Forum: Beth Abraham Synagogue, Beth Jacob Synagogue, Temple Beth Or, Temple Israel; and Hillel Academy.
