Shop, Nosh and Learn, October 2010

In partnership with the Dayton Jewish Community Center, Hadassah will hold its opening event, Shop, Nosh & Learn, at the Boonshoft CJCE on Sunday, Oct. 17.

The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with boutiques and Steve Bernstein’s Kosher Kafe open for purchases. Among the boutiques will be Blue Turtle Toys, Envy, Joey Eric, Pinky Scout Children’s Wear, and Preen.

Elaine Bettman of Occasionally Yours will talk about the adventures and empowerment of becoming an entrepreneur.

Dr. Kim Goldenberg
At 6 p.m., former Wright State University President Dr. Kim Goldenberg will lead a multimedia presentation on Empowerment and the Alleviation of Poverty: Global and U.S./Israeli Strategies. Goldenberg will highlight ways that Hadassah and other non-profit organizations help individuals empower themselves from poverty to productivity.

 

Goldenberg, an advisor in strategic thinking, was formerly dean of the Wright State University School of Medicine. He has provided consultation to the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations.

Admission to the event is $7, which includes a contribution to Hadassah’s Chanukah Mitzvah project.
